We specialize in developing the all-around companion horse.Our program is divided into three stages in the life of the young horse: Foal... Yearling... and 2-year old. We will complete these training stages for you. Or, we will assist you to accomplish these important developmental training stages yourself, with your horse or ours.

For example, our program for starting the young 2-year old horse begains with foal imprinting at birth!. This is followedby a sound nutrional program, sound foundation of ground work. 60 days riding as a 2-year oldand ends with a wide range of experiences that includes loading and hauling, trail riding , and the opportunity to trail  a cow or two. We finish with you aboard, riding your horse in the company of experienced horses on Rocky Mountain trails at the Tarkio ranch.

Alta conducts group and individual horsemanship short courses with your horse (or ours) at the ranch by special arrangement.
